This slow-simmered stew of okra, shrimp, sausage, beans, and tomatoes is built upon a potent ham hock broth.

Check out my mom's Indian Fried Okra recipe https://youtu.be/N2IR_90ryaY?si=KHngmWJ_tE-uwRfA Thanks!
alright now!!!!!
I don't eat pork, but that does look delicious. I love okra.
Sooo similar to a Southern Louisiana gumbo!! Yummy!
I love your Cooking 👍
From minute 6:00 to 6:20 I cannot stop hearing that being said. Once you hear it you will be rewinding to see if she really said that. 😂
Okra is nasty, gross, and revolting. It should be a crime to put shrimp in anything with okra. The only thing worse then putting it in any kind of meal or food is picking it off the plant. I think God did not intend for man to eat the stuff but just have a nice flowering plant. I am going to stick with what I think God intended and never ever get even near the stuff.
Orka helps to regulate Blood Sugar !
ok
This looks amazing I would add taso to customize it. Thanks for sharing!
This looks good! There is a HEB here in Texas and they have great shrimp and fresh okra! I can't wait to make this!
Wow very very super 🧑🍳🧑🍳
I love okra and I love shrimp! This must be good!
Hmmm….shrimp and okra stew without a roux? The dish looks really good but because of my Cajun heritage I would have to start with a roux. Hardly anything better than shrimp and okra!!! Yum. Thanks for the video
Looks super good!
Can we throw the Okra in the garbage 🗑
I am trying to learn to enjoy okra. The mild flavor they have is hard to taste. There are so many good things in this, it might just work. Thank you.
looks great but i just can't do the okra!!!
Can I skip the hot sauce? I don't like it. It's too spicy.
The skin is the best part of the hamhock!
It looks like gumbo. But I would substitute the okra for zucchini. And for those who don't eat pork, smoked turkey parts are an awesome substitute.
Since many seem to detest okra, because of its slime- one trick I learnt was first to shallow fry them like the cook did the sausages and that would help with removing the slime. This adds an extra step but if you don’t enjoy the slime as I do, this is your best bet.
Saving this for later when I have fresh okra, tomatoes, garlic and onion from my garden! Yum!!
Looks like red gumbo.
What brand of Andouii Sausage?
This looks delicious and so easy with so many readily available ingredients. I love stews with rich broth and little treats.
It's like gumbo and red-beans-and-rice had a baby, and I'm not mad about it. Despite growing up and living in south Louisiana, I've never heard of this dish. I am mad about that.
I just saw this one 3 days ago it's not New. smarten Up people.
Never been a fan of okra because of it's sliminess, but I do know about it's ability to thicken soups and stews. I may have to try this! Thanks for constantly trying new recipes!
my family we’ve been doing that forever
Mmmm… looks soooo good.
💛…smoked ham shanks are meatier for about the same cost…
Now that’s an economic meal! If needed, sub fish chunks for shrimp. Or just use more smoked ham or any cheap sausage for andouille.
Wow I never heard of this, but I'm going to definitely try it. Growing up my mom fixed okra, corn, and tomatoes together in one large soup pot, oh yeah I remember she added butter beans. Some say Lima, we always said butter beans. She made a pan of corn bread. This is giving me childhood vibes. Thanks for this recipe. Love, respect and positivity always. Vee J.🙂👍😋✌️💕🕯️👋.
That looks really tasty.
One piece of critique tho, the close up shots where things get grabbed quickly from out of frame is a bit jarring and kind of offsets the otherwise calm and enjoyable visuals.
You hid the label but there’s no mistaking a bottle of Louisiana Hot Sauce, aka “Red Dot”.
Excellent presentation of a delicious looking recipe.
The horrible sliminess of okra!
I can’t believe Chris Kimball my favorite from ATK(its creator snd founder in the 1980's) who was fired and who I still want back(his Milk Street program is not really what I like) presented on this site for sale a wok he designed!!!
What is the brand of andouille used in the video??
Thank you ATK for letting Morgan the cutie grace us with her presence once again…😊
definitely gonna make this
The ingredient pork should be included in the title, seems to be more essential for this stew that the okra or the shrimp.
this looks so yummy — except for the okra, which i destest. what can i substitute for flavor & thickening?😋😊
Looks good! I learned from either Alton Brown or Chef John that if you’re making a broth with onion that will be fished out, leave the yellow peels on to add gorgeous color.
Look so yummy.
I love okra 😊 👍😋
