I’m glad she mentioned smell. I always try to multitask and I know the almonds I’m toasting in my oven are done when I can smell them. ❤ Same with toasting bread.
Also note, stoves have varying sizes on the same stove, low on one is a low simmer while another is searing, learn to prefer the medium sized burner on your stove to have much more control even if it's in the back burners.

That's why I threw away my Whirlpool oven. It was so inconsistent I couldn't get a good range of temperature to baking time. Burned so many pies.
