Do you remember when the Salisbury steak TV dinners came out? They were very convenient but relatively bland in taste. Well, now think of a homemade loaded Salisbury steak recipe that is ‘oh so tasty’? One with a massive hamburger steak loaded with flavor smothered in a thick mushroom and onion gravy.

Thank you for watching this take on an American classic comfort food – The original recipe was created in 1888 by James Henry Salisbury an American physician 👍 If you like sauces smash the like button and subscribe to learn more sauce making tips 😊 Please note that at 5:27 when making the roux I use 3 tbsp butter or 42g (not 24g butter)
Super yummy ❤
Yummers
That was a lot more than 1/3 of a cup of wine
Great recipe! Made exactly minus the red wine. Family devoured it. Definitely a keeper.
Very nice recipe and video. I also use soy sauce as an added secret ingredient in some of my dishes to add to that umami flavor. Nice work. This one’s a keeper.
Will have to buy some ingredients
No onions please
Looks pretty good
Wow this recipe looks so mouthwatering and delicious. Its super easy to make and is very healthy!!! Thank you so much for sharing this amazing video with us❤️keep up the good work
Gravy should be a food group. 100% subscribing. ❤😂
I'm guessing store-bought also skips on quality meat, uses plenty of filler, and over salts.
There's no ketchup in Salisbury steak woke.
Great comment on not using your hands to combine the ingredients! I'm a big Nigella Lawson fan, and I was literally thinking about her when I saw you use the spatula.
this is a winner! very tasty and tender steak. I love a good Salisbury steak
Great, I'm going to try it.
Will be trying this over Christmas, 2023(uh oh. I messed up on the test run, by misreading T for t worcestershire. Oh well, more for me and will definitely try again. Oh, and I used a grill pan which made darling x marks
What instead of mushrooms (?)… In my opinion, they taste like dirt.
Hi Johnny Mac. I’m from Australia and just finished your recipe. Yummo scrummo. 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🫶🫶
no salt, no peper on meat ?
I'm sorry but that looks so gross.
is there a substitute for the red wine?..not a fan of that particular flavor…or can I leave it out?
about how i make meatloaf, but sorry not ANY onion soup mix will do. Sometimes you can skimp and use generic, but i highly recommend Lipton onion soup, much more flavor.
Worcestershire sauce ruined it.
Dry onion soup is way too salty for us. I make my Salisbury Steak like I make meatloaf, I just exclude the green pepper. For the gravy, I mix up a can of Cream of Mushroom soup, add some Kitchen Bouquet, thyme, garlic powder, onion powder, pepper, parsley flakes, and Worcestershire sauce, then mix in the onions and mushrooms and pour it all over the browned patties. I love using my electric skillet to make this dish so I can cover it and set it to a nice low simmer and let it all cook low and slow, moving the patties around and basting them in the gravy every so often until the gravy is thickened, onions & mushrooms are done, and we're ready to eat.
