Martha Stewart’s Tsoureki (Traditional Greek Easter Bread) | Martha Bakes Recipes | Martha Stewart

Martha Stewart shows you how to make tsoureki, commonly known as Easter bread, just in time for the holiday. This traditional Greek dish is often baked at home as a festive gift for family and friends and embellished with red hard-boiled eggs. Similar to a challah bread, tsoureki is slightly sweet and its dough is rich with eggs; each slice is crispy on the outside yet light and fluffy on the inside.

  1. I'm sure it will taste great, but what makes tsureki psecial is the addition of machlepi (mahleb) and mastic gum. Both these aromatics give the bread a unique, fragrant yeasty flavor.

  2. this is not the right recipe for tsoureki. is a variation of the recipe. the right recipe contains 3 essential herbs, plenty of sugar, fresh butter, fresh milk (not only water), and whole eggs, not just the yolk. I am from Greece and I make tsoureki every year at Easter. I do not know where you found the recipe shown in the video, but it is not the original.
