  1. I left out the star anise, smoking the rice and the extra sauce, and my family still loved it. I'm making it again today by their request, thinking I'll add smoking the rice to see how it goes.

  2. Ingredients:

    1 lb Chicken legs
    2 Tbsp olive oil
    ¼ tsp turmeric
    1 tsp paprika
    ¼ tsp allspice
    1 tsp salt
    ½ cracked black pepper
    1 jalapeno, cut into thin strips
    1 shallot, diced
    1 cinnamon stick
    1 bay leaf
    1 star anise
    2 cardamom pods
    2 cups basmati rice, rinsed
    1 ½ cups chicken stock

    Optional: 1 Tbsp butter or ghee
