The salad at the end looked amazing!! I must try making it. ❣
Oxtails, okra and black-eyed peas, oxtails & pinto beans… Served over rice… Southern black folks have been devouring these types of meals forever in America. Add fresh baked cornbread and your family is in for a terrific Sunday dinner.
I love asparagus steamed! Just right at that crisp/tender line.
That would be a professional use Dutch oven! Maybe Jacque Pepin, he uses them!
Especially in a big crockpot! Slow cooking!
Wonderful with navy beans!
I think they need some balsamic vinegar or something
I am from Jamaica and I consider oxtails my thing. I think this recipe is Amazing. I was skeptical at first, but I was reminded why I love ATK.
I really enjoyed this episode because both of the highlight dishes used a main ingredient that I am inexperienced with. The oxtails in the braise and the fresh artichokes in the vegetable dish. I am looking forward to widening my horizons 😁
Beautiful Becky
I'd like to know how the carrots remained whole for being cooked for 3 hours and run/crunched through a strainer.
These recipes look wonderful. I have never had oxtails or favs beans for that matter, time to explore those worlds!
That's the problem oxtail is oxtail you don't waste nothing small thick it doesn't matter we Jamaicans use it all
No one Cooks oxtail like a good Jamaican cook 🐃🐄🐂
I didn’t want to spend that much for a Le Creuset Dutch oven and always watched for deals. In the meantime I snagged a Black Friday deal from Amazon on their “AmazonEssentials” brand enameled cast iron Dutch oven . The current price for the 7.5Quart round is $62 and I haven’t had any issues with it at all (of course I don’t slam the lid on it or temperature shock it either). Just a budget friendly suggestion for those looking.
Both dishes look amazing! They'd both be good over polenta, too. I wonder if you could chill the veggies and used the cold as part of an antipasto or a pasta salad. The only fat was olive oil, IIRC, so that should work out well. Thanks!
Braised Beef Shanks … WHY? Would you build your braise in the nice new pot with EVOO and not use the great flavor you have in the rendered beef fat. This after all is about flavor … Save your EVOO for the salad dressings.
Please please its known as a poi kie and actually not its not a potjie a potjie is a cast iron three legged pot that goes on a fire. Comon ATK!
Looks very delicious but nobody does oxtail like Jamaicans
It’s very similar but they use butter beans
There inexpensive, really Dan?
Tell me where you live so I can i oxtails there.
It’s like $12.00 per pound in NYC
okay, so first of all, Ox tails is NOT an inexpensive food. each tail goes for about $10. for that amount you could get cheaper cuts and more meat.
Cover it with a dish! No need for aluminum foil
the veggie dish looks amazing! pure genius but the old ways are always the best ❣️
Le Creuset at $368 US?? Thanks, guys, but I'mma keep cooking in my 1950s Vollrath No. 8 6-quart cast iron DO, which I was fortunate enough to be given by my wife's bf. Short of giving me a 19th-century Wagner piece, you ain't gonna pry that one out of my kitchen.
Hello
I like oxtails, but cooked the traditional way and now I use my Instant Pot to cook them in with potatoes and other vegetables. That dish made looked nice, but takes too long and uses up several pieces of cookware.
Julia is in a mood this episode.
Lancaster and crew are terrific — except Davison. Her attitude and demeanor are saccharin and beyond irritating. I've gotten to the point of simply skipping over her segments. Perhaps producers should consider a viewer survey as to whether to replace her.
Buy Le Cruset at one of the outlet malls, plus watch for their sales, every month the sale is on a different color. Makes it more affordable.
All of these look so delicious. Gotta try'em all
i never tried oxtail before until i visited a friends house. i fell in love with it. They made it like into a stew with beans. SO tasty! Very tender meat
As a cook myself, I understand the steps of the oxtail recipe. But somehow it feels so fussy to do at home. Looks wonderful, however, ATK!
The title of this video reads "Perfect Your Braising Skills with Oxtails with White Beans and Fava Beans with Artichokes". What with what??? Rather confusing! Nowadays, some people no longer believe in the need for proper punctuation to render a phrase or sentence intelligible. It would probably make more sense if it read "Perfect Your Braising Skills: Oxtails with White Beans; and Fava Beans with Artichokes". I am not nitpicking. Punctuation (or lack thereof) can make the difference between comprehension and confusion.
Oxtails are expensive
It's nice to see Becky featured this way.
So pour out the beef fat and then add more fat with olive oil? What a dumbass
The amount of awkward laughs and mhmm make me feel uncomfortable lol. But as always a great cooking vid with good info
I've had that exact Le Creuset dutch oven for over 12 years, and that pristine white enamel on the inside is long gone. It's still a great dutch oven, but now it's no better than a regular cast iron version. However, I paid "only" $200 back then 🙂
Plastic handle on the lid of the most expensive dutch oven?
Oxtails, inexpensive? Where do you live? In my supermarkets, they are on the pricey end for sure. $20 for three is what consider expensive, especially if I need to feed eight people at dinner!
