Older model Weber Spirit and Genesis barbecue grill hose and regulators attached to the manifold with a special fitting. Watch as we take you step by step to remove the hose and regulator and than identify the correct type of gas fitting to safely install a new hose and regulator on our Weber BBQ.
This is a Weber model that is over 15 years old. It was so badly aged the customer asked us to destroy it when we delivered her new Weber grill. Instead of dumping this barbecue we are using it to show detailed repair instructions but also to demonstrate that the old American made Weber BBQ grills can almost always be repaired and brought back to “like-new” condition.
This video shows us the hose and regulator being replaced with the proper gas fitting available today and then leak checking and testing the gas line to ensure safety.

Do you mean 1/8 pipe?
Thank you sooo much! It worked perfect!! Grill gets seriously hot!
Thank you!
Thanks for posting. Just what I needed. You should put the parts listed below in your description. I took me a while to find this. The adaptor The 1/8 male to 3/8 flare is item 00012 listed at:
http://www.grill-repair.com/parts-hose-regulator.html
On that same page the 24 inch long hose and regulator is 80012.
This is brilliant. Where on earth do I buy that brass conversion nut.
THANK YOU SOOO MUCH !
Thanks! I was already thinking about getting rid of my old Weber.
Hello Jason,
I can't find the adaptor on your website. Could you send me the link?
Thank you
Thank you for explaining how to test of leaks!'
Doing a conversion now 4 yrs after your video. I would use "yellow" telfon designed for gas line for an extra measure. Thank you for your video as my good starting point
I will give that a try Joshoneone11.
This is a nice post but he makes one critical mistake. Â First tighten the new taped conversion fitting, then hold the new fitting with a wrench while you tighten the flair fitting. Â In the video you can see that the conversion fitting is continuing to tighten as he turns the flair fitting nut. Â The flair fitting itself is never properly tightened. Â I learned this from a mechanic years ago. Â Be Safe!
I love your videos. Â This is my exact grill. Â I need to replace the burners. Â What model do I need and how much is it?Â
Thanks! Â Just got this exact grill for free but had to deal with that older style connection. Â I just bought the stuff I need from the website you linked to in your top comment. Â Saved me a drive too.
Excellent info – thanks!
This worked great thanks. I had to use a 1/8 to a 1/4 to 3/8 for mine but same basic concept.
where do you get all the parts
We ended up at Menards and bought a 3/8 in fl x 1/4 in FIP AND a 1/4 in MIP x 1/8 in MIP. Just over $7.00 and $13.00 for hose/regulator at Walmart. Problem solved.
My thoughts exactly!
As was mine, I needed to get a 1/8 to 1/8 couper, A female 1/8 to female 1/4. Then the flared 3/8 to 1/4 to make it work
my brass fitting was 1/8 x 3/8 = took 3 trips to ace hardware and 3 fittings to make it work. Definitely not a 5 minute job….
HUGE help! Thank you!
Where did you buy the brass conversion fitting?
Whats with the creepy music?
