Traditionally prepared by Mexican fisherman, caldo de siete mares, or “soup of the seven seas,” combined the freshest catch of the day along with a few vegetables in a mildly spicy seafood broth.

Very much enjoyed this clip. Recipe looks amazing. Love Erica's presentation and energy. Makes me want to cook this and keeps me coming back to ATK again and again. The cringe comments are so unfortunate. Feedback can be helpful, but have some class folks.
A speech coach for Erica could be beneficial.
A few hours spent in elocution lessons could reap huge benefits down the road. Otherwise, the recipe looks delicious, and the instruction spot on.
Erica is awesome! More Erica! 🙂✨
Durn that soup looks amazing!
NEVER HARD BOIL SEAFOOD, WILL BE RUBBERY!
Wow! Erica’s energy is absolutely contagious. Such a joy to watch!
Why yes! This recipe segment did end rather abruptly. The final 35 seconds:
Julia: But it adds this backbone of flavor. All right now for some seafood. Yeah, that shrimp is perfectly cooked.
J: Erica, this is incredible. Thank you!
Erica: Oh, my pleasure!
J: If you want to make this magnificent Mexican seafood stew, start by toasting guajillo and an ancho chili, then grind them up with the other aromatics. Strain the broth before building the stew and cook the mussels first and finish up with the catfish and shrimp.
J: From America's Test Kitchen, a seafood stew that will transport you to Mexico: Caldo des Siete Mares.
J: This is incredible!
E: Thank you. I love it too.
J: You could cook anything in this broth!
This recipe looks amazing! And I love seeing new young faces on this channel!
Love the recipe, not the sing-song voice.
The recipe looks great! What size is that round dutch oven?
I’m curious why ATK doesn’t have any Latino contributors . Fortunately, this recipe is surprisingly authentic, however, many of the past recipes from Hispanic countries/regions have been somewhat dubious in my opinion. I appreciate how far ATK has come in their efforts to diversify their recipes and contributing testers since the stodgy WASP days of Christopher Kimball, but they still have some work to do….
My god, this woman talks like a sage, looks like a super model, and smiles like the goddess of joy and love
Zzzzzz
Beautiful! and the food looked good too lol
I miss the recipe recaps. The segment feels cut short and incomplete.
I thought catfish were fresh water fish? No? She said they should smell like the ocean.
Comments are so fake.
Any cook not white: OMG love him/her. He/she is AMAZING. Very nice, very knowledgeable. More of his/her videos!
Erica has lovely energy.
Never saw her before but loved her energy and enthusiasm!
I agree with some of the previous posts-the recipe seems incomplete-7 fishes soup? Also the young lady presenter’s manner of speaking is very irritating. Is she really turning every statement into a question? Very irritating. Give her a voice coach and another chance.
This looks delightful 👀
Shoulda hired a Mexican. I know ATK does everything science-like, but it shoulda been a Mexican doing this.
I love seeing all of the different talents at the ATK! (Erica and Antionette, mostly recently).
Yum!
Bravo Erica! More Erica videos!
Erica's uptalking is very hard to listen to? Every statement seems to end with a question? It is really very distracting? Perhaps, find someone without this irritating habit for onscreen presentation? I do, however, think the recipe sounds lovely?
Always love your recipes and make quite a few. But every place I've had this soup there were 7 different types of seafood (Caldo de Siete Mares) not 3. I'm sure it's delicious but it's not complete. Just call it fish soup.
Catfish??? Where's the crab & calamari? This is not gumbo, this is siete mares.
a bit too much upspeak
One observation…a rolling boil to cook fish fillets is a no-no.
Need proof. Seems fake.
Erica's smile is authentic and contagious
