So much effort and time to boil an egg? I keep to my own effort – boiling and then cold water for 1 min. Never had problems unless sometimes when the egg was old. Meaning edible but at the brink of the suggested period of safety
Here’s an easier way my mom taught me:
Boil enough water to cover eggs completely
Add 1 tsp of baking soda
Add eggs
Set timer 12 mins
Remove boiling water and run under cold water
Works every time😄
Thanks!!!!
If you've already messed up the cooking part. Then just stick them in a plastic container and shake it for 10 to 15 seconds. The peels will come right off.
This method works great for peeling garlic pieces as well.
I’ve never done any of these things. Boiling eggs the same way for +40 years over open fire, electric, gas and induction. The fresher the egg the more difficult to peel once cooked. Something about their ph.
So much time and effort just to peel it perfectly? Maan, I’d rather do it old way and more time efficient
What a load of nonsense. It's the thermal shock in the end. Nothing more.
good advice, now let me give you some back. Take about a minute off your steam and your yolks will be golden orange and creamy like custard, not chalky and dry like that
I’ve been doing this for a long time but never realized why it worked. I started steaming them because the longer cook time is just more forgiving and easier to get a tender egg
Just put salt in the water
Once the hard boiled eggs are done, I put them in a bowl of ice cold water. Leave them for ten to fifteen minutes. Drain off the water, dry off the egg, then peel. Much easier.
Thank you for the tips!
13 minutes? Ain't nobody got time fo that!
Can you help me scale that up to cook 15 dozen at a time? I make big batches of deviled eggs and have been using the ones that don't peel well for egg salad, but if I could save time in the peeling step it would be a game changer.
I just cant figure out how to scale up your steam method. I have commercial convection ovens, but no steamer.
And if we want it more jammy?
If you eat a lot of eggs, just get a nice egg cooker, it's worth it!
I wonder why this never happened when I boiled eggs. It's because everytime I did this I put them in the water before the point it starts to boil.
Using an ice bath right after boiling the egg is often sufficient.
This is so time consuming. Drop them so the shell cracks slightly
steaming eggs LOL, why you gotta reinvent the wheel? this is wasteful and useless for home kitchen
❤
I pop them in the rice cooker when cooking rice, just before the water starts boiling.
Possible for soft boiled eggs?
You can gently tap the end of the egg with a spoon until you here a little 'tick' or 'pop' & then slide them into boiling water. They will peel easy.
What about soft or medium boiled eggs?
I love this cooking method and I have never tried it, I will try it very soon.
I usually boil the water THEN add the eggs for 12 minutes. No need to put in a cold bath. They peel perfectly everytime.
I literally had this issue tonight lol. Will need to try this! Thanks 😊
I never knew this why they stick. But I peel my eggs right after they’ve reached the cook time that I won’t and I don’t have this issue. You just can’t wait until they sit and get cold to do it. Then I put it in an ice bath to cool it down faster.
How about soft boiled eggs?
After years of struggling with peeling eggs, can confirm steaming is the way to go.
13 minutes? I get perfect eggs in 7-8 minutes in boiling water. I’ll try the steam for 8 and see how it turns out
CAN YOU TALK ABOUT POKING A HOLE? GOOD OR BAD?
👍🏻
13 minutes ! Is that metric or imperial ? 😂
i just add them to semi boiling water for about 12 mins then run se in cold water let sit, never had issues
The irony is my auto egg cooker does the same thing
How many minutes for half boiled eggs using this method?
❤
Overcooked
The hatred I feel in the depths of my soul when that happens to my boiled eggs
Ok, but please clean that timer off. It’s gross
I start with cold water, bring to a boil then turn the heat off. Cover for 15 minutes then whack each egg with a spoon. Cover and let sit 10 minutes. This lets the water get between the shell and the egg. Then plunge into cold water. Easy peel every time!
